back to school

My kids are growing like weeds!!!!
These cute sunflowers were kindof a random idea, we plucked them in some soil and they grew into these pretty little flowers.

Captian America and his Denver Broncos fan... all ready for 7th and 2nd grade.

I'm afraid my 2nd grader is soon going to over tower my darling 5th grader...

all of their main concern.... that they will find their classrooms. Sadie and Nick are starting in a brand new elementary school this year and Mason is all over the school for his classes.

I'm sure they are all doing great! As for those of us at home...well... back to the swing of things (laundry, cleaning, napping! life is good!)

Hot Diggity Dog

I sortof wish that we would have kept count over this summer of how many hot dogs these 2 have eaten. They could win a contest by now I think. Especially at this camping trip... I would guess about 10 were consumed!

...what can I say?
what's camping without a good old weiner!

Sad but true these are my only photo's of the Ford reunion. My camera died and we never did take another picture. A good time was had by all. I really wish I would have got some pictures of the lake and the little boys fishing. My Brother in Law carved mine and Jake's name in a tree, that would have been a good picture to have and lots of other memories. Oh well, they're tucked in the mind, like all memories are.

Summer's almost over! Sad to see it go!

This cutest boy ever turned 13!!

We are a happy family...

Aunt Lisa is the BEST!!!

I remembered my pills... so I wasn't a Grizzly Bear

...hence the happy family ;)

Grandma and Andy were using the buddy system on our little hike...

Fishing Bridge

The great valley

"you-fullo" as Andy called them...

rainy day... but we still had fun!

"the volcano" as Andy called it! (it was his favorite part)

He's always the closest to me... that's why he gets featured the most.

The traveling crew!

This was one of the funnest trips we have ever been on. Thanks to all for making it possible! Aunt Jill, Uncle Randy, and family. Lisa & family, Mom and Dad and everyone else who came along... wasn't it great? We LOVED it... in fact we're still on cloud 9!!

our summer so far in a nutshell...

Bear Lake... crazy good fun!
The water was awesome!

Sadie got a camera for her birthday and so most of these pictures are from the eyes of "the girl"

mountain bike + Nick = true love

camping, 4-wheeling... (don't they look thrilled?)

self portrait from the parking lot of LAGOON!!!

(loving the shades!!!!)

gone for a week ... :(

the season ended...

it may be horrible photography, but at least I caught a few moments. and now, lucky for me, if I don't remember to catch them, Sadie will. I'm lucky that I have a family that loves me as much as they do. They look past all my ridiculousness and craziness.

monster mellon and breakfast bars...

well.... he was suppose to be a shark... didn't do so good... so meet

MONSTER MELLON!!

p.s. after all that and no one would reach in his mouth for fruit... "people, it's not going to bite you..."

Just thought I would share this recipe. We had it for desert when it was warm, but chilled and cut into squares these breakfast bars are like a yummy bowl of fruity oatmeal.

Crust and Toppping:

1 c. flour

3/4 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 c. cold butter cut into small cubes

2 1/2 c. quick cooking oats

2 Tbsp apple or orange juice (I didn't have either, and used milk instead)

Filling:

1/4 c. dark brown sugar firmly packed

2 Tbsp flour

pinch of salt

3 1/2 c. fresh berries (I used fresh peaches and cherries)

1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice.

1. heat oven to 375

2. add the flour, brown sugar, salt to bowl of food processor. pulse to combine. add butter and pulse until coarse crumbs form. add oats and pulse a few more times.

3. remove 1 1/2 c. mixture, set aside. add fruit juice to remaining mixture and pulse until moistened. press mixture into 9X13 greased pan.

4. for filling, whisk brown sugar, flour, salt in med. bowl. add fruit and lemon juice and gently toss. spread over crust.

5. sprinkle reserved crumbs over filling. bake until top is golden about 35-40 min. let the pan cool for 2 hours. cut into 16 bars. store in refrigerator in airtight container.
